About the music
OMNIA means "everything" in Latin. It stands for the fact that OMNIA is not bound by any particular music genre or style. Because of the musical diversity and taking into account the fact that they mainly use hand-made acoustic instruments on stage, it seems that no-one knows in which box to place OMNIA. This is because the music of OMNIA is something completely new and their shows are quite a unique experience. It has led to much confusion for reviewers and organisers and so OMNIA has ended up being labeled many different things over the years. For instance, in French-language areas OMNIA is mostly seen as "musique Celtique" and "Worldmusic", in German-language areas as "Medieval" and "Gothic". In Dutch-language areas OMNIA is seen as Gothic as well as "Fantasy" and "Celtic Folk". Worldwide OMNIA has even been labeled "acoustic metal" ,"Gothic Rock" and "FolkRock"... but all agree that their shows definitely Rock!...no matter what you call them...
And now, to confuse the critics even more, they've even started writing and playing powerful acoustic pieces in full blown rap and mainstream styles on the new album "Wolf Love" (released autumn 2010).
For this reason OMNIA chose long ago to simply name their music "PaganFolk", which etymologically speaking would mean: "nature-religious, traditional indigenous music".
Even though OMNIA has the philosophy and lifestyle of a strictly underground cult-band, they have influenced many other bands and artists and are recognised as one of the founders of the "PaganFolk" scene and a cornerstone of German Mittelalter music. They have harvested international acclaim on many different festivals in many different scenes ranging from Gothic, Pagan, Folk, World, Medieval, Fantasy and even pop, as well as in the theatres and clubs they have been touring throughout Europe since 2002.
There are many mysteries surrounding the music of OMNIA and its weird band members. To some they seem like fairies or angels, to some they are demons... but hate it or love it, two immutable facts remain: This is pure original music and poetry, straight from the heart… and this heart beats with 100% Green nature power.
OMNIA is not just a unique cult band; it is a way of life. This becomes evident when you see and hear them play.
