Poëtree is BACK!!! (2012-02-22 12:14:56)

OMNIA Poëtree is back for an intimate weekend at the beautiful and cosy atmosphere of the small DREAMHARPS venue in Mijdrecht! OMNIA-Poëtree is the 'solo' project of Steve Sic and Jenny in which they get to play and record all their favourite songs as covers, next to playing all the more poetic and soft Omnia songs (something they cannot do with the full OMNIA setup). It is a more Bardic, traditional and intimate way of making music in which they explore their musical roots. This spinoff project has been performed on the main stages of Castlefest (Holland) and Festival Mediaval (Germany), but usually, they play it unamplified for very small audiences for the greatest emotional effect.  Tickets are VERY LIMITED so if you want to be there to celebrate the return of the Sun in an old-fashioned and poetic style with us, be fast! After the show there is always the chance to meet Stenny personally at the beautifull fireplace of Jenny's parents' comfortable livingroom in Dreamharps...(see our photogallery for pictures)

Spreading the Pagan Love! (2012-02-16 17:02:05)

Thank You LVC in Leiden! What a great night we had, You guys rock! I could really feel the Love that joins us and you on the mega-hot stage... I felt like I'd fallen into a bucket of extacy...Don't forget that all of OMNIA's music flows forth from the Gigantic Love between Jenny and Me...that's what gives us the strength to write, it's that which makes the melodies and the words flow. That Love sustains us and guides us through the paths of life , through goodtimes and bad, OMNIA survives as long as the Love of Stenny is strong...And we can only play this Pagan-Life-music properly if enough Love is felt between us and the other band members...the Love we share with Philip, Daphyd and Rob makes the show strong and real....the Love we share together with YOU is what makes the whole experience work as it should. We love our Clan and we're loyal to each other, we ignore the outside world and the traitors to Life and Nature....That's what OMNIA is all about!

Yesturday was fantastic experience for us all!, we hadda great gig, we hadda wunderfull time an all the sweet friends and fans that were there made it really the best way to spend a sunday afternoon! Me has been on dha stage evvery gig now 'cos me Help Jenny play the piaano, see me rockout widh me's stage featherz on!
Now Stenny an me isz going onna short break intoo dhe wild snowy forrest , so we will not hav inturnet or a phone or annyting for a week! Yeah (SteveSic looks verry happy!) So frum today is jus' gonna be us inna wooden house ful of instruments, widh lotsa treesz and snow all around! ...maybe Stenny 'll write some new songs again!... OK. I just finished some last minute repairs to the OMNIA van because tomorrow we have to drive all the way to TIVOLI de HELLING for our next "I don't speak human" clubshow! And it's really far from our house (well actually it's only ± 900 metres away from where I'm sitting now...which is kinda weird...I'm used to sitting in a roaring van for up to 9 hours a day to drive to a gig...so today we'll have an easy day!...I could go on my bakfiets!) anyway...we hope to see as many of you as possible there in the Helling and together we'll Dance untill we Die!...pagangreenthingz! It's so good to be back on stage...we're hooked...we need it like food and sex....It gives us the life and energy we need to survive...the OMNIA gang was all together again , love was in the air and life ROCKED last night in Lelystad... (it was the smallest venue we've ever played but the atmosphere was amazing! thank you so much to everybody who was there yesterday (especially our sweet hardcore PaganClan fans who come to every gig, again and again!!) Just some cool tunes from our own music colection at home to chill to while your getting warmed up in the venue before the show begins... and a freaky mix to dance to afterwards (if you have any energy left!...the van is packed...Jenny is just fixing up my dreads so that my head doesn't fall apart on stage tomorrow ;-) ... we'll meditate a bit and space out tonite and tomorrow we hit the stage again after our 3 month sabbatical...YEAH! We all have a list of things that you have been wanting to do for years and years, but never get around to doing somehow. On Steve's long list, there was "pimping our stage banners"...They are way to boring :-) !!!
On this picture he has just started grunging, but while I'm writing this, he's a bit further, and let me tell you, Steve is the master of grunging and pimping. It's gonna be lovely. Wanna see what the end result is gonna look like? choose your weapon (2012-01-04 13:59:15)

Guess who's back in the Neverlands? Stenny had a harrowing yourney from Københaven to Holland yesterday. Massive storms on the road, we took a ship across the sea from Denmark to Germany during the same storm and our new black van pounded the motorways for 9 hours (with just Jenny behind the wheel) through lashing rain and galeforce winds. With just the odd crushed up "fast" sportscar wrapped around the safetybarriers to break the monotony...(some people never learn). Denmark was great fun we got to hang out with our danish buddies eating and drinking traditional Danish newyear stuff. Spent some time in the studio to make something cool for our clubtour...While we were visiting Harald's house he complimented me on my words on our last cd..(Harald Juul is a great man,a former Danish Viking chief who has now become a paganpriest of the nordic religion and whom you might have seen as the cool white-haired guitarplayer in "Euzen") To express his respect for our message he offered me a gift, I was allowed to choose any one of his collection of fine swords OR any one of his collection of beautifully carved animal skulls to take with me... HARD choice! because Harald used to be a very great and active swordfighter (like myself) and he owns the most amazing selection of beautiful death-irons ranging from viking to roman to medieval. Some made for stuntfighting (forged blunt) some made for either decoration or killing (forged sharp)...after some internal drooling over the weapons I started to think what my instincts said...What do I need? Do I need another weapon of physical combat to let my body move or do I need something I can put on my home altar to help my mind focus? just a few years ago I would have grabbed the meanest metal motherfucker in Harald's house and gladly have made off with that , shouting "thanx!" over my shoulder while swishing the steel through the air...But now...no...
My time as a physical warrior is over, my weapons have changed...My swordhand now holds a microphone...that is my weapon. I chose a beautifull Cow Skull with a celtic/viking crossover carving on it to hang on our altar, so each day I look at it as I perform our daily rituals I can think of Harald the Viking, his land, his religion and the timeless strength of the pagan-Danes to strengthen my soul instead of my sword-arm. My weapon is my Microphone which heals while it slays, my Combat is my concert which liberates through music instead of destruction, My battle is our beginning, the green revolution ... Januari Rose in my buttonhole... (2012-01-02 16:42:15)

I just went for a walk in a park somewhere in the suburbs of København. The weather was very mild and the sun came out a bit,so I didn't need my normal heavy wintercoat. I borrowed a light summerjacket from my friend Christopher Juul instead and had an invigorating wander around. There were all the regular city-park-kinda-things I've come to expect to enjoy when going on walks like this in various cities of europe and beyond. There were the ducks (looking a little traumatised still from the new-year battle) there were the neat little gravel paths with a smattering of garbage to follow (as is normal). There were the usual pointless concrete and steel "design-installations" that nobody wants instead of old trees (as is to be expected). The grass was cut to the usual military crew-cut shortness and the e.u sponsored fitness machines looked as unused and purposefull as a duck in a spacesuit (as is to be expected). A small group of boys from various cultures were actively practicing racial-integration and group-bonding by lighting-up old bits of soggy fireworks and trying to blow things up (again all seemed normal and just as it should be in the happy and free civilised western world)...and then I spotted the rose...???... a rose?... and there!, another one! and another... and another! roses growing on the 2nd of januari up here in the northern reaches of europe. Now that is something out of the ordinary for me. I've never seen that before. They looked very squishy and weak, but still...roses! I told the plant that it should go back to sleep because it's time hadn't come yet, and the rose just looked a little embarrased and told me" But all my friends are doing the same! I'm sure it's my time now, I can feel it" I looked around and saw that she was right , thousands of stunted little roseflowers and buds were popping out everywhere. I didn't want to make the rose too upset ...I mean how can you explain to a flower that it will die if it carries on doing what it's doing right now just because it "seems" the right thing to do given the circumstances...so I just smiled and told her she was pretty and smelled like spring. (which made the flower happy ) I then asked this particular rose if it would mind being picked by me, so I could wear it in the buttonhole of my borrowed jacket so that many more people could gaze upon her beauty and marvel at this wonderfull white januari rose...she said "take me" so I did. And this is her...the danish winter rose... Our world is changing, that's a fact. A lot of things will become uglier, but some things will just become more beautifull and more special.
The trick to life is ignoring the brute lies of humanity while seeing the beauty which is life itself. You know I hate humans (as a species), but the sum total of the love I feel for my family and my friends is far more than all the "species-hate" I have inside of me.(and even though I'm ashamed to admit it, my family, friends and me aswell are all at least partly human) so brave people on the edge of the freeworld let's live each year like it's our last! focus on the good bits that our space-monkey-race is capable of! Love and Beauty, Art and Nature appreciation, poetree and musick, sex and cookery the good thingz in our lives...they'll keep us going, they'll keep our hearts warm! Happy New Year!...through a crack in the concrete , a flowers grows... (2012-01-01 17:35:45)

..Sic opens one bleary eye and switches on laptop....what happened?... what time is it?... urgh.. 16.30?!... what the f... oh yeah...newyears party... drank too much whiskey... smoked too much weed... sang soo many songs... laughed almost till I barfed... (didn't make pictures though sorry, we were having too much of a god time to remember the camera)... head feels a little fuzzy now... so it's... erm... 2012? Hey! that's the end of the world as we know it!..isn't it? (smiles) YEAH!!!
Last night the traditional blowing up of a few thousand million kilos of cheap , chinese-made colourfull explosives has helped us into the 2012th illusionary year of the mutant monkey. As the extremely loud sound of the war on Nature still echoes between the concrete officeblocks and industrial waste lands and the really fecking gigantic cloud of carbon dioxide laced with all sorts of air-bound poisons slowly seeps into the atmosphere to join the other manmade crap floating there we face yet another year on this planet. So Let's make it a positive one! Let's make believe that the insane planetary bacteria which is the human race will finally stumble and fall to join the dinosaurs , the intelligent crabs and the atlanteans on the bottom end of the wheel of life. I see wars brewing like never before, I see climatic change being helped along by misguided monkeys everywhere, I see political upheaval and monitary madness, I see the media becoming more and more disconnected from any form of truth or reality, I see the insanity that is us coming to an end...I see hope for all the plants , trees , fish and fuzzy creatures at last! I look forward to a year of change. I look forward to the green revolution which will start today!

Talking philosophy, making musick, getting drunk, eating fatty dutch newyears dumplings (oliebollen!) and wishing for more of the good vibes and life energy we get from playing ...to continue bringing creativity and Art into the present and awakening nature in the cold heart of mankind... no matter how impossible it looks sometimes....There is something you could do in the newyear! (if you wanna do me and the planet a favour that is) ...Let's just live one year for the simple cause of nature and eco-anarchy . Let the flowers grow everywhere...plant seeds wherever you can all year long... let's see if the plants and flowers can help us to break the concrete walls. Sic's incomprehensible blog again (2011-12-10 15:43:18)

We've been practicing some more juicy new ways of playing really old favourite OMNIA songs of ours for the upcoming "I don't speak Human" tour. To keep it all interesting for ourselves and for you guys,girls ,Fae and spacemonkeys aswell. Although we realise that we'll NEVER be able to please everybody (not that I have any wish to ofcourse) But as your life in a PaganFolkRock band progresses, you start to notice that "your" audience can be pretty incomprehensible sometimes. Ofcourse I never read any of the heated negative discussions on the various Fora (or would that be "Forums" nowadays?) or stuff like that because I prefer to stay sane and relaxed. But I do sometimes get to hear about the funnier statements , a few of which I would like to share with you...like:

"OMNIA is ALWAYS the same!!...they always play and say the same things!!!....I've seen them so many times and I just can't believe that they always do the same!!! ... how boring!!!Time for a change!!! " (note the multiple exclamation Marks, a sure sign of insanity)

but apparently we also get the same amount of the opposite, which is:

"OMNIA has changed way too much!!!, I don't recognise them anymore!!!...this isn't OMNIA...this is not the PaganFolk they have pioneered, this isn't the music they should be making!!! (and ofcourse an OMNIA fan should know much better what kind of music Jenny,me and the band should be making than us ;-)

(giggles) funny isn't it?...I suppose it says something about the duality of life itself BUT thankfully we don't write or perform our music for this brave breed of "internet critics" We live this great life for OURSELVES , for NATURE and for YOU. As long as YOU like our music ,our message and what we do we'll stay true to what we are. Because I think that you can see that we're actually a TREE .
YOU understand that although we seem to be different to that first young sapling that was innocently growing in the sun so many years ago, we are still exactly the same Tree with the same strong root as before. It's just that our branches have become stronger and our fruits and flowers grow brighter and more wholesome with each passing season... If you think that OMNIA has been doing nothing except practicing these past few months because we are so busy preparing for our German and Dutch tour....think again! Because this week sees the release of the pilot episode of ourlatest Art project: OMNIA's "ALMOST HUMAN" documentary series on the Omnia you-tube channel!
This is the start of a whole range of short episodes of really beautiful "behind the scenes" videos made by our friend Erwin van Dijck and the OMNIA gang, about Life in the World of OMNIA! So you can expect to be given a close-up look at OMNIA ...the mad musicians, the preaching pagan lifestyle , the freaky freedom fighters but also you'll get to see us just as people...
-there will be plenty to laugh about (if you have a brain and a sense of humor!)
-there will be shocking stuff (that the other people can happily complain about!)
-there will be live-recorded song concepts (so you can hear how we make music)
-there will be tips on playing instruments, cookery classes, joint building instructions, inside looks into our homes...and much much more!
We'll be releasing a new episode approx. every two weeks for as long as we like doing this (and for as long as you guys enjoy watching it). Yawn!..trouble waking up today...Stenny spent last night doing some awesome ROLLPLAYING with Damien, Myrthe and my (oldest) friend Tijn of subcultures (who is also ex-OMNIA by the way)...exploring the outer limits of fantasy and pagan-theology on a table with miniatures and dice...Ah! the roll of the D20,the confusion of notes, the rustle of the crisp bags and cookywrappers, the smell of the joints, the Orcs , the talking swords, the sting of the clichés...yum!... We love rollplaying ,I been rollplaying since the early 80's and it's still a favourite passtime of mine (between reading and pretending to be an underground Paganfolk cult-musician that is)...

Today we've been working some more on our new super-power set for the upcoming paganfolkrock clubtour "I don't speak human".And it's gonna rock! (like a mountain!) This is us having a little lunch break ,Daphyd cooked (free-range) scrambled eggs and we had a good laugh looking at the first episodes of the OMNIA "Almost Human" video documentaries...one very sad note though.... this is the last time we can get together like this at Rob's place in the old army barracks where he's been living these past years. You see,he's being evicted next week (quite suddenly) and the poor guy won't have a house anymore... so, anybody got a place to live for a really sweet PaganDrummer (and his collection of 1000drums) ? greenthingz and Paganhomes! ...XXX OMNIA

Midwinter with Poëtree! (2011-11-06 15:43:05)

OMNIA Poëtree is back for an intimate Midwinter (Yule) weekend at the beautiful and cosy atmosphere of the small Dreamharps venue in Mijdrecht!

OMNIA-Poëtree is the 'solo' project of Steve Sic and Jenny in which they get to play and record all their favourite songs as covers, next to playing all the more poetic and soft Omnia songs (something they cannot do with the full OMNIA setup). It is a more Bardic, traditional and intimate way of making music in which they explore their musical roots. The coversongs range from songs by Nine Inch Nails, Nick Cave, Wim Sonneveld, Jean Ferat and even Tenacious D. This spinoff project has been performed on the main stages of Castlefest (Holland) and Festival Mediaval (Germany), but usually, they play it unamplified for very small audiences for the greatest emotional effect.

Places are very limited so if you want to be there to celebrate the return of the Sun in an old-fashioned and poetic style with us, be fast to make a reservation. See you there!

As you may have noticed our sweet darling Maral is going off to study cultural anthropology (that also includes studying you actually) and she will also be developing her "own voice" as a solo singer (which is awesome I can tell you).

We've already decided NOT to replace Maralli because she is irreplacable to us. (so it's no use to offer your services as the new backing singer for OMNIA) and we will face the stage (and you) without her wonderfull feminine presence just the five of us...

I want you all to wish her well in her future choices and remember her as the loving spirit who joined OMNIA to help us through our darkest hours of betrayal and despair with her smile, her humor and her sharp mind. Thanx Maral, WE LOVE YOU!!

Hi everyone..

As the title suggested, Omnia will from now on continue without me. I didn't leave Omnia, nor was I fired. Jenny and I had a good talk, in which we decided it would be best for me to focus on my own musical career.

Performing with Omnia has been a great experience, and I am thankful for all the good times on stage. However, throughout the time I've been developing my own style and my own voice, something I wish to further explore. I will also happily spend time focusing on my study (Cultural Anthropolgy and Development studies).

But do not worry, I will still be around gigs every now and then.

And who knows, the next time you see me might be with my own project..

Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.. (2011-10-25 14:44:12)

Hey guys and girls, thanx for all the beautifull words of support that you have showered onto us, to mark the passing of Dennis. Jenny and me accompanied by our rythmical friend Rob Raido were coping with death by celebrating life these last few days. I've heard many people over the years tell me or Jenny that our music has helped them to overcome some internal struggle, or to deal with loss of a departed friend or family member or to help with life in general. They tell us that if they needed a spiritual lift, OMNIA is always there for them. Now this might sound strange, but we've sometimes been a little jealous of these people, because although it's great to be able to help others with your energy the question then remains: "who's gonna help or inspire us?" (apart from nature ofcourse) When will we see a performance that blows us away and helps us to cope? Well this weekend we found such a man (and his band) to soothe our sorrow. We were lucky enough to get tickets to go and see Michael Franti and his band Spearhead in a sold out Paradiso in Amsterdam and it was really an eye-opener for us. Such energy!, such life! , such dedication! I have never seen such a happy sight on a stage as that 6foot six , dreadlocked peacepreacher on his bare-feet coaxing the audience into a gospel-like frenzy of happiness and hope for a better world. (this is the guy that also went to warzone Bagdad and occupied Palastine with just a guitar and a camera to record his film "I know I'm not alone") He also went down to "occupy Amsterdam" by bicycle from Paradiso on the same day to play some music there. We visited that camp on the beurs too.Although not as many people of the so called 99% actually care about our freeborn birthrights I still find it heartwarming that there are still some people left in these modern tims who try to make a difference by DOING something (instead of jus' talkin' bout it). After A*dam we went down to Eindhoven to chill, played pool with Daphyd (he "whupped my ass") aswell as with Rob (ditto on the asswhupping) .Rob introduced us to a very nice healer Lady who helped put Jenny and my screwed up energy into a better aligned shape...and now I'm back online to tell you all's well enough. Today no jokes and funny messages from Fluffy (he's too sad to write) because yesterday after a long battle against disease , my Father Dennis (Denny) Evans died in his home in Spain.

Spare a thought for the spirit of a man most of you have never met , a man without whom myself and my kids Damien and Myrthe would never have been given this wonderous gift of life.

Spare a thought especially for his widow Tanja (my stepmother) and his daughter Nathalie (my half-sister) for whom this loss is the greatest to bear.

Dis is me in dha car (strapped in for safety) where me spended looooots of time on dha road on our "there and back again" travells ( just like mr. Bilbo) . Jenny drove dhe dreamharps-van more dhen 3500 km of big roads and liddle roads so me saw a lot of stuff on dhe way travelling dhe land on my big adventjure...Sometimes we had a big pile o' traffick-jam (which is not made of fruit but mostly from 1000's of eastern european trucks and doesn't taste naice on your toast in dha mornin' at all)...sometimes me see dha pollice cars drive by an look in ad us (which always makes SteveSic nervous because dhe police always diskkremm ...disckrimmun... deskrimmineigh...PICK on Him) , but when dhe pollice come by I just smile at dhem an dhey see me and dhat make 'em happy, 'cos I'm blue like dhey are, so they no bother us at all! Only on one border did dhe customs look inour bags and thingies but when dhey see dhat Stenny are sweet musicians and dhat SteveSic's case only has flutes innit (an' not guns) dhey wish us a nice trip and waved as we drived off again! But mostly me see all dha pretty land go by my liddle car window, frum forest to hill, over mountain and under mountain ,from desert to sea is all sooo cool. We jus got back frum the most wonderfull festivall me has seen evver! Festival mediaval in Selb in Germany! It was awwsum!..no...me should say AWWSUM!!!
We luv playying in Germany!, there are so manny people that understand dhe musick and she message of OMNIA there! Jenny and SteveSic played a beautifull afternoon set of Poëtree to a huge awedience and they were all soo quiet and lissening an me was allowed to be on dha stage and look at dem all! (it woz a bit scary) becos wen SteveSic and Jenny finnishjed dey forgot me on dha stage and me was suddely surrounded by German people wid bagpipes and 'lectric guitarrs and loud boom!tjack! stuff. ann me woz shaking scared untill SteveSic ran back onto staige to rescue me! after the great pagan weekend of Castlefest, which we finished off with the traditional band-gathering on the beach to watch the sun set...this year it wasn't just Stenny and all their friends, but the band joined them for the first time aswell...(it's cool to have such a bunch of friends onstage aswell as off the stage). Today we drive to Germany to dive onto the mainstage at M'ERA LUNA tomorrow for a fast set of Pagan Philosophy amongst the plastic and latex clad technophile masses of the German Gothic scene. Dis is me on dha staige at CASTLEFEST (not Kesselfest).It woz kool , it ROKT! big tyme!... Stenny let ,me stay wid dem on sunday..here is me in a quiet moment inbetweeen bands, when all de men in black came to clean dhe stage after Stenny played dhe Poëtree gig for the first time on Sunnday (wid Sun!) ...it was awwsome!...it made me go all soft and squishy inside. OMNIA waz very happy and played musick liake dhey were possessed by life and luv. Dey smiled all dhe taime cos mr. Philip, miss Maralli, mr. Daphyd, mr. Rob and Stenny they very happy cos dey meet wit many music frends from all over Yourope..dhere were aal dhe nice Bulgarian frends from IRFAN , mr Norri from CORVUS CORAX and all dhe sweet Danish peopul from VALRAVN and dee happy Vikings from EUZEN (Wid my produuzer frendz mr. Kristoffer and miss Maria from dhe stuuudio!) all of dem went wid OMNIA togedder on dhe Staige on dha PAGAN NIGHT ( togedder! Dhey had 14 musicians playin during Etrezomm Ni Keltey!) and dhey had big flamy fire things on dha staige aswell! it woz awesom!..but me hav no piktjoors yet , Stenny just got home an me just got out of dhe sootcase...ennyway..dat wos on saturdeey me thinks...not sure annymore...it was such a koool weakend! me head is all spinningcurlywig like my horn...soo menny old frends togedder! mr. Another year , another cd release! As I'm writing this the sun has just come out again from behind the clouds ,after too many days of rain... So with luck the sun will shine on Castlefest in Lisse (NL) where we will officially present our newest musical child "MUSICK and POËTREE" on friday the 5th of august 2011 for the first time! From that day onward it will be available in our webshop, in the Dutch and Belgian music stores and downloadable on various internet stores such as iTunes , Amazon etc. (the official German store-release will be in september).This is really our best cd to date (the whole band loves it) and it feels totally fresh and new , while at the same time being more "old-school" and "back to the roots" than our last releases...
We're really looking forward to a fun-packed weekend of wyld OMNIA (the whole band with a really cool friend of ours on Drumz)and bohemian OMNIA POËTREE (Stenny solo) . Ofcourse we want to see as many of you there as possible when we celebrate our crazy Pagan way of life together, so be there!...to avoid confusion here is the complete OMNIA program for the Castlefest main (forest) stage during the coming weekend:

I would like to share with you my personal PAGAN RELIGIOUS/PHILOSOPHICAL CODE OF CONDUCT by which I live my life. (it's in a poetic form ,loosely based upon the warrior code of the iron age hero and king: Finn Mac Cool ) and as I've had an inner Zaphod Beeblebrox inside me telling me what to do ever since I read the books of Saint Douglas Adams I decided upon the name :
                                            the ZAP CODE
( which is in itself an acronym of: Zen - Anthropomorphic - Personification . ie: your inner enlightenment given human shape and character)
At the time of publication a long long time ago, many people merely viewed the heavily iron-age celtic hero "Zap Mc Clannad" (McClannad ="Son of the Tribe") as an excuse to wear plaid skirts ,drink mead and listen to bad irish covermusic but that was never my intention when writing this religious code of conduct. I meant it as a simple guide and mental hand-hold to help myself and all my friends through good and bad decisions we have to make each day on the road through life on this planet.

After many many months of hardwork, endless planning, studio hours, artwork hours and countless smokes.... it's almost there! Our newest baby is almost ready for printing....ooooh! (don't you just love these little moments of excitement?...when you get that special feeling..."yes!!... I realise that Jenny and me have been working our combined asses off for a long time now, and it looked like the stress would kill us, but now it seems like it was all actually worth it!....AGAIN! ;-)

NEW OMNIA CD!

"Musick and Poëtree"

After yet another successfull year of touring and "living the paganlife" with OMNIA, Steve Sic and Jenny (collectively known as Stenny) have written a new Album full of their soul-stirring music and nature philosophy. They've been doing this every year for many years now and "Musick and Poëtree" will be their 14th release to date!! For the first time ever, Stenny have combined creative forces with their friend Christopher Juul (from Euzen, Valravn and Lavastudio København) to co-produce this new work of Art, instead of producing it themselves like all the previous OMNIA albums. This gives OMNIA Musick and Poëtree a very special, fresh new sound compared to the previous 13 releases. Time is running out for this crazy world filled with human-monkey madness and OMNIA Musick and Poëtree adresses this problem and offers solutions as well as comfort for the other monkeys...

Stenny have chosen to release Musick and Poëtree as a unique new concept, namely a "2 disc-album" (2 discs = 1 album).

The 1st disc ("Musick") contains 5 up-beat OMNIA songs (playing time 21 minutes) recorded in Denmark together with the members of the OMNIA live-band: Philip, Maral and Daphyd. New songs like "I don't speak human" and "Free" express the same OMNIA ideals of respect for nature and personal freedom that fans worldwide have come to know and love ...only stronger!

The 2nd disc ("Poëtree") contains 7 gentler, more dreamy, Bardic pieces with a deep emotional meaning for Stenny themselves. Songs they have grown up with or that have inspired them to live like they do. Ranging from European traditionals like the swedish "Gröne Lunden" to interpretations of 20th century classics like the German "Lili Marleen", the Dutch "het Dorp", Tenacious D's "Fuck her gently" and Nick Cave's "Mercy seat". These works have been played and recorded by Stenny in a very intimate and pure setting, completely solo and in one take! This disc also has a playing time of 21 minutes, making the total playing time of OMNIA Musick and Poëtree 42 minutes.

Both discs will be released together in a beautifully illustrated Digipac made by Steve Sic together with OMNIA-art veteran Fieke/Orchus.nl. And after the beautiful illustrations of academy-award winner Alan Lee on "OMNIA-Alive!" it was now the turn of two of Stenny's other talented family members to enrich the booklet of Musick and Poëtree. This time wildlife painters Renso Tamse and Marjolein Kruijt have added their considerable talents to this newest release!

OMNIA "Musick and Poëtree" will be released for the Benelux in August 2011 (Release Party on Castlefest 5 & 6 august, Lisse, NL) and for the German language areas in september 2011 (Release Party at Festival Mediaval 10 September, Selb, D).

It might have come to your attention that we had to let go of our drummer Tom.Even though he was a great addition for us during the live shows, we have decided that we couldn't continue working together because of our musical and professional differences.We are still very grateful for his company, musical contributions and good times,and we are saddened by having to make this decision. Unfortunately,Tom is unable to join us for the upcoming gigs , but we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.Despite the current situation, we very much appreciate and respect him,and he will always remain as a positive influence on Omnia's sound.

So here is my reeview of de Poëtree konsurt yesterday nite. It was verry nice and me sooo happy dat me was theere to listen to Stenny play akooostick for de nice people! Everyting dey played was brilliun…bryllihun…brillyon…erm…great! eksept dat stoopid song about dat stoopid poodle wit dat stoopid name nooddle…(dey rote a song about a immaginnari dog , but not 'bout ME!) so me sabotaged Stevesic's boozooki capo..which fell off when dey played dat stoopid song…hehehe!…but all rest was verrry nice and put big smile on me face. Here is me being a big tuff music prodoozer unicorni...now me look just like mr. Christopher (he is de nice man what runs de Lava Studio) he let me sit behind his big desk and twiddel knobs and push buttons while jenny is tuning her harp. Jenny is been playing an extra "harp on her own" song today about fairies what wos writ by a dead irishman kalled Tullokarrolen (or dat's wat it soundz like to me annyway). My head is still bit fullo feadhers because of last nite, when mr. Kai (who iz a relly cool tatttoo-make-man) came by for to talking with Stenny and mr.Christopher about life ,def and symballs an stuff. Stenny fifnished almost all recordings for pohtree in only one day! They so sweet making music together..I alwayz dream away on fluffy cloud of happy when they do...only de covver song by mr. Blackbird's struggle (2011-05-23 16:04:57)

Last week Philip and I were pleasantly surprised with the fact that there were young blackbirds in the communal patio of our house.But soon we noticed the struggles that both the blackbird-parents as well as the young ones go through in the process of growing up...Within days one after the other died, leaving the parents to be alone in the end.It's really sad how these beautiful creatures have to learn how to fly in between bicycles and garbage, surrounded by horrible noises of chainsaws, cars and loud people.I can only hope that other blackbird-families are doing better than the one we've seen.I would like to ask you to look around you and think of what you can do to make this place a bit more comfortable for the creatures around you.You won't regret it, I promise ;-)

Finally,after many days of touring, we arrived back home yesterday evening..We had such a GREAT time!Except for the times we got stopped by the German police because they were looking for drugs, ofcourse,which we obviously didn't have with us....but let's say it's interesting to see a freaky long-haired, tattooed cop with pink handcuffs ;-)Anyway,we played at many different venues, some of which weren't as good as we expected, and some of which were just perfect! All in all, we've learned so much from this experience, and who knows, we might even do another tour...Thanks to the nice fans who were there, the nice venue-crews, our own crew, dear Beatrice, our sweet friends who supported us, and of course our dear Jan Kühr, you are our hero!And I'd thank many more, but my mind's a bit...non-existent at the moment ;-)

So, I've read that some of you didn't know the Hamburg gig was cancelled.... That really, really sucks, finding that out in front of the venue...We specifically noted in the Raven Times that this gig was cancelled, it says so on our agenda and the venue's website as well. Our sincere apologies if ,despite all of the previous mentioned, some of you still didn't find out on time that the gig was cancelled.

Back and knackered... (2011-05-02 20:18:32)

...what a weekend! Last Friday we drove to the beautiful Germany to play at the Walpurgisnacht Open Air at Zella-Mehlis.We arrived in the evening in the area of Thüringen,which used to be a part of the GDR. It's so interesting to cross a seemingly untinteresting gasstation,which used to be the spot where German soldiers checked everyone who passed.We spent the Saturday-afternoon celebrating Beltaine, by relaxing, hiking, enjoying ourselves and appreciating nature.What a way to prepare for a gig ;-)The next day we left early in the morning, because we had a gig at Hexentanz Festival! Thanks to all the people who took great care of us!Thanks to all the fans who were there to support us this weekend, you guys are awesome!I'm very knackered now,so I'm gonna leave it at this for now ;-)

......Welcome, because we're back from Denmark! And goodbye, because tomorrow will be our LAST theatre gig for a while........After this it's clubgigs, festivalgigs, etc. So if you want to check out Omnia in the calm, peaceful setting of the theatre, I suggest you come tomorrow ;-)We'll be playing at Theater de Purmaryn.I just spoke to Steve over the phone,and it's safe to say that we're all very excited about playing tomorrow :-)

.......Yesterday and today we've mostly been working on vocals!This part usually takes the longest, because singing is so much more intimate in a way...Yesterday we've recorded the vocal-parts for an amazing new vocal-track Jenny and Steve wrote. I can't really tell you anything about it, but Jizzie Chrizzie, it's so cool.... We treated ourselves with a nice meal in Christiania, YES, we still LOVE that place!Today we're working on the rest of the vocals that need to be done, but we're all warmed up so it's going great :-) Later today Maria will throw a garden-party to celebrate the nice weather, creativity and life. There's not much more to tell you, so I suggest you take a look at the nice picture of Jenny and then read a nice book or something ;-)

Wow, it's been a while since I last wrote a blog...... You want an update don't you?Well, last Sunday we drove for many, many hours..After more than 8 hours we finally arrived, and wow, it felt like coming home. Words cannot describe how comfortable and happy we feel whenever we're at Lava Studio and the lovely house of Chris and Maria. We spend our time here making music, recording, exercising, talking, laughing, cooking, jamming, thinking, reading, really: the list of nice activities goes on and on.... It's such a nice atmsosphere; everyone is trying to get the best out of themselves, working and tweaking on skills, always striving for the best.. There's instruments EVERYWHERE, constant sound of people tuning their intsruments, singing, etc. etc

There's not much left to say except: we are doing great and the cd is going to be AWESOME!I'll keep y'all updated, so till soon!

Could one possibly be more knackered? Let me answer my own question with: 'no, unless one is Steve or Jenny in particular.'Yesterday we spent all day working out new material and adding new layers to the roughs.There's some really refreshing new songs and pieces, that I personally really really love..... But I guess that's nothing to you is it ;-)You'll have to wait and listen for yourself. Stenny and Daphyd are still at Dreamharps, actually! Such troopers, don't you think?We had to leave early in the morning to take care of some bureaucratic schmoink, because apparently without an I.D. or passport one cannot cross borders!Personally, I still have a hard time understanding these imaginary lines that make up differences between countries, but oh well.... Anyways, all is well, I hope the same goes for you.

Recordings, tattoos and Raven Times (2011-04-12 15:02:51)

So what is up in Omnia-world? Well for starters, my huge tattoo is FINALLY finished after many hours and pain :-) I might upload pictures some other time...Yep, it's obliged to either have dreads or tattoos or piercings in Omnia. Or talent. Anyways, Stenny has spent the last days babysitting the beautiful Dreamharps, where they've been working hard on recording some roughs for the new Omnia EP......Tomorrow, we'll also join them so we can go to Denmark well-prepared. Has this been mentioned before?No?Ah,you see, coming Sunday the Omnia-van will drive to Copenhagen, DK. again with a bunch of freaky musicians. We will re-unite with the lovely couple that is Christopher Juul and Maria Franz, for another cooperation. That's all you need to know for now..Oh yes! There's a new Raven Times coming out soon, written by Steve. Wondered why I and not Steve is writing the blogs lately? Read the RT when it's published somewhere tonight. Wow, in all this chaos you would almost forget we're still doing a gig this Friday! Hope to see some of you in Raalte then! Chaos is ever-present in our house, and I'm kinda guessing we're not the only ones ;-) It's really because the audience is so shallow you know, because if they didn't mind looking at messy people, I would've not gone through the hassle of showering and the likes.But oh well, I guess I'll do my fellow bandmembers a pleasure and get rid of my bedhead.

Both gigs at Hengelo and Nuit Celtique were so much fun, we once again shared the stage with Daphyd, and we once again had a blast playing for you guys, the fans!

Thanks to the fans for being there and making the 4-hour drive worthwile, you give us the energy to play! Thanks to a couple of fans in particular for making and drawing the perfect gifts, we appreciate it more than you can imagine ;-) Thanks to the festival for giving us the sweetest personal assistant who fed and guided us the entire day! Sounds weird, but usually we starve after gigs because nobody considers us to be hungry afterwards.....And thanks to, well.. nature! For being so pretty, always. You provide us with pretty sights during the long cardrives..:-) You know, life makes so much more sense during days like these...

Well I would love to tell you we've been up to supermassive exciting things, but... we haven't.

But then that depends on what you think is supermassive and exciting I guess?

Stenny's holiday is coming close to an end, so re-energised they will do 2 Poëtree-gigs this weekend. Also, this weekend is the first time Steve will be 'in public' again with his new fresh tattoo! I haven't even seen it, so to the people who are attending the gigs:

let me know if it's as good as I think it is ;-)!

As you might've noticed, Philip and I moved into our new house since the beginning of March, and we're still working very hard on making it OUR place. That includes lots of candle and plants-buying, a very oftenly used smudge-stick and that kinda stuff.

And for the first time in ages, I am able to read again! You see, for a couple of years I wasn't able to read because I simply couldn't find peace and focus in my head.

But apparently, a new start sometimes makes for a more relaxed state of mind, so I can proudly say I've picked up a book again and am reading away like mad ;-) Ah, I used to be such a reader as a kid... The book is called 'Secret life of plants' and it is so mindblowingly cool to read how plants are actually....Nah, you should read it yourself !

Actually, speaking of reading, Philip has also picked up on reading again! He's digging through 'Our Tragic Universe', and I think he likes it, because he keeps quoting from it.

What more can I tell you...? Not much really, we're just really looking forward to the upcoming gigs! It's been way too long, we should probably go through the repertoire once or twice...

Good day to you dear reader, still there are you? ...good, well hello again! this is a short note to say goodbye, for a couple of days...but I run ahead of my subject though...ahem...firstly: Today more ink was stabbed into my skin with a bunch of very sharp needles ,weilded in the skillfull hands of Renate (inktpot.nl). She traced the lines of my latest "neo-shamanic body-design" for about 6 hours and the result is superb! (me happy)...more symbols...more nature-shadows...I can feel them begin to work already!...although I do have kindof a sticky shoulder and chest now (vaseline)...who cares? I love it!...anyway, to return to what I started prematurely with: Tomorrow Stenny is off to the Forest to rest, meditate, wander through nature and make...MUSIC! We've had a hectic few months and now we will just sit under a tree and pass the time , blissfully non-human... untill the next gig (OMNIA-Poëtree in Mijdrecht). My new tattoos will heal within the protective arms of the Oaks and the Firs in the same place where we wrote such fresh new pieces like "Free" and "NoodlePoodle". Who knows what we'll bring back from the woods this time! In such a haven of peace and birdsong far from the insanity of monkeys our minds and souls come to rest so that we can finally hear what songs nature is trying to teach us...In the chaos of modern life I sometimes lose my way, when I let all the hollow people effect/infect my mind...so we retreat back to earth...but not too long because you are still here, and you are worth enduring all this destructive undignified madness for...(but not for the coming days though, them's just for us)...See you at the next gig (wherever or whenever that may be for you)...we'll let you know when we're back in the stinky concrete swamp and you'll probably hear about what we've caught to put on the new CD we're starting on in april...oh yeah, another thing we'll have a little surprise at the upcoming theatre shows for all you slideridoo lovers out there!...more about that later though...Bye!!! see ya'll ya'll have a good time ya hear?...Greenz Stenny photo by me...

FAIRY BALL IV, YEAH BABY! part 1 (2011-03-13 22:04:12)

Wow! what a buzz!...what a party!...It sooooo rocked at the 4th OMNIA FAIRYBALL yesterday...I felt as happy as a free piggy in the wildmud of a world without humans! We're still very groggy and hungover from the amazing trip into a sparkling fairyland of music, laughter, poetry, dance and beauty that we had with all the crazy wild and lovable people that had gathered in Bibelot. We're really happy we opted for a smaller maximum amount of visitors this time (it was a bit of a crush last year), so now there was still some room to dance for our masked and otherworldly audience. We played an exhausting yet exhilarating two and a half hour set of manic wossname and enthusiastic musificationality . Rockin'Tommy dressed to kill , Philip looking distinctly "Phil" , Pretty Maral ,crazy as..well..as a "Maral" I suppose?..Jenny looking gorgeous in an absolutely stunning dress, and me being kinda cavalier in the costume department...with our honoured guests Daphyd (on slideridoo), Fieke (on accordeon and hurdygurdy) , Coca (on Harp) and Kelvin Kalvus with his magical crystal spheres filling the stage to the max...It was such a monstrously huge sound with all those great young talented musicians rocking out together on that (for us) tiny stage, I felt carried on a wave of sound and group-energy. I wonder what you guys thought of our guest musicians?, all really good people who love the OMNIA music and who love our fans (that'syou) ...should we invite some of them as guests on Castlefest or other gigs aswell?...this year everyone in OMNIA had really done there best to look as awesome on the stage as you guys looked in front of the stage...being crazy, silly monkeys together!...the signing session chaos afterwards was kinda tiring (after such a long non-stop energy gig) but the happy faces and wonderfull sentiments of the tribes of fans were well worth the extra effort it took us to come out and meet you face to face to talk and sign... ofcourse those precious ladies that wanted their boobs and other..ahem..bodyparts signed kept us well alert and in a gentle mood! "hurray for boobies!" is our motto, Jenny, Maral and me often sing it in the backstage (yes, I know we're really shallow...but,so what?...it's fun!) ah! such is life on the Paganside...really...this was the best Fairyball ever...simply unforgettable! , and ofcourse next year we'll do another one, we'll start thinking about a theme...(no more masks though...it sucks to dance and play with)...we'll see what the future holds...nothing is set...nothing is fixed...we are all children of Chaos...wherever the creative wind blows us we will have to go...nothing is sacred , only nature...Anyway, des toutes façons, des todos mañeros, jedenfalls, in ieder geval: check out these great pics by Marcel...because I fucked up the "facebook-audience" photo...sorry! Jenny is making a party mix out of our own music collection for the afterparty at FairyBall coming weekend on this pic.... I'm working away on my costume (we finally get to dress-up for a gig!..yeah!..long live random weirdness!) all the guys were having some trouble with their masks ...we felt vastly inferior and hopelessly under-dressed compared with the artworks that Jenny and Maral have found to grace their faces...(well what did we expect?, you say "dress-up" to beautifull women like that and they go bananas!....men are so ugly in comparison don't you think?) so I've solved the mask problem for us clumsy males with the cunning use of facepaint...you can do the same if a mask is bothersome for dancing or whatever,don't forget we're interested in YOU not your clothes! (and there will NOT be anybody checking masks at the door, so no worries)...The atmosphere in Stenny home is bubbling with a groovy background sound of the music you will hear when we finally stop playing saturday night (It's gonna be a really long set) We're gonna fill this magic night with some really rocking stuff which we're gonna be playing with an "extra large OMNIA band" that's turned into a complete folk orchestra! ...we're all ready for it...(Tommy has been diving into the carnaval in eindhoven to get in the mood, Phiral are prepping themselves for our weekend of fairy-fun in their new house...our honoured guest-musicians Fieke, Daphyd and Coca have been practicing and checking out crazy costumes for themselves, Kelvin is arriving here tomorrow in God's know what kind of weird outfit this time...) I'm so looking forward to the show in Bibelot...need gig-fix!...must play...gimme a microphone! ...we've been doing so many Theatres, I've almost forgotten what a dancing audience looks like....yo baby!,this is what we do it for isn't it? I'm reading Jonathan Safran Foer's really brave book "Eating Animals" at the moment (it's kinda like "fast food nation" by Eric Schlosser) but then more up-close, more directly on your plate and inescapable to your conscience... I like to read books like this every now and then to stop me ever feeling any pity with humanity and it's inherent hypocrytical nature-raping masses. The way in which we have let the dominion of this planet be taken by a relatively small amount of individuals who's "god given right" is to rule us all (or so the bullshit propaganda machines tell us)...We live and Die under the influence of a very small amount of extremely powerfull people...like the major shareholders who actually own those disgusting international anti-life meat-corporations like Smithfield (that's Stegeman in holland)...they simply own or bribe the various governments they need to push through the neccessary laws to make unthinkably sick things like mass concentration death-camps for pigs, chickens, turkeys and cows (varkensflats etc in holland). Fucking animals and REAL farmers at the same time...They suck up all the subsidies and grants provided by our own tax-euros to sell a continent full of overweight humans even more "cheap meat", full of pain,degredation, poison and disease...(where did you think all those scary flue epidemics keep coming from?or the disproportionate amounts of Asthma , ADHD and Allergies amongst our young?) If you have ever really had a look at how and why so many beautifull intelligent creatures get turned into sickly mutants and tortured in the most excruciating and dishonourable way then you would certainly never ever eat all those cheap "torture-products" ever again (it really makes me vomit, literally)...I know so much about it nowadays that I seriously have come to believe that a large part of humanity is engaged in an all-out war with this planet...(especially the governments) and I am now a traitor to "my" species (the space monkeys) and have developed a deep love and respect for this planet that we are stranded on...thus becoming a partisan for nature...by singing about these injustices to our mother and our brothers and sisters of the animal world I can soothe just a tiny part of the shame I feel as a human...but the war has become very serious indeed my friends, it get's worse each day...we can't sit on a fence anymore... not doing anything is actually a choice for the bad guys nowadays...you cannot say "wir haben es nicht gewusst" (we didn't know) like the german people in ww2...You know...you sure as hell know...you just don't want to know...If You eat non-ecological meat, you are sponsoring pain, despair and torture ..joke about it, laugh about it, but it won't change the facts...I realise that not everybody who reads or read these pages is as intelligent as you are...(ahem)....so I'll make it simple....DO You really wanna help this planet (and a few happy monkeys) to survive?...then Learn a little more about this world , the creatures on it and what your "fellow monkeys" are doing here in your name....and then ACT!...DO!...MODO FAC!...BE BRAVE and FACE UP to what needs to be done!..(in whichever way you feel is neccessary)...Greenthingz and Revolutions!...Steve Sic

it's BAND PRACTICE DAY! (fairyball blog 2) (2011-03-02 21:33:57)

Today we're hanging out at Dreamharps for some extra bandpractice with some of our cool guests for the FAIRYBALL IV. The tones flowed sweetly and the living is high and in tune...Outside the sun was shining , birds were singing and we waz rockin' all day long...Our honoured guests today were Fieke (yep THAT Fieke!) and a really old friend of ours Daphyd (aka the Crow of War), who has become an even better Slideridoo player than he was before...Fieke ofcourse had her trusty Accordeon and beautifull hurdygurdy and then we played and played! I love being able to just share sounds with talented and inspiring friends on a lovely afternoon and calling it "work" (especially when it goes so well) It was going in such an easy flow that we even had a look at some of our older songs and collaborated on much more than we planned aswell. I can tell you it's gonna be a really cool set and a hot night on the stage of Bibelot in Dordrecht on the 12th (especially the Morrigan!, can you imagine Philip screaming along Kill Maim Fight! etc while ramming all-out chords on his guitar?)...ha! precious moments!...Hey speaking of FAIRYBALL we've heard that some of you are afraid of wearing a mask, and don't dare to go because of that...that's really sad!...so... we've decided NOT to put any form of "costume control" on the door so you can come in however you look...(after all, it's supposed to be fun , and not scary...isn't it?) We're running through some arrangements of OMNIA songs with Coca (Kelten zonder Grenzen) for the upcoming Fairyball IV ...Here you see Jenny and Coca in their usual pose...drinking tea and nattering while leaning on their harps (Coca plays an exact copy of Jenny's Dream-Harp and Jenny actually used to be her Harp teacher)...so wonderous tones and good cheer are floating around the house today..........and now some sad news aswell , one of our fans Marjolijn van der Molen of the Lifthrasir PaganClan tribe (Tribe messenger Ineke) has died ... her spirit has left her body to join in the great circle of life again...we offer our sincerest condolances to friends and family. We'll burn a candle together for her tonight at 22.00 (GMT) to light her way on her path ...enjoy life while your heart is beating, because each day could be your last...so ENJOY EACH MINUTE OF IT!...greenthingz...Steve Sic and OMNIA

Dinner with a camera crew? (2011-02-28 20:47:11)

We had an interesting time today with our kids Damien and Myrthe , doing all sorts of kinda day to day stuff...so far it all seems pretty normal, if it wasn't for the fact that we were being accompanied by a very friendly TV-film crew and a really nice guy called Henk Jan. It turned out to be a very philosophical day in the end, with talks, walks and even some improvised outdoor music making...topped off with a tasty dinner .Henk Jan and Myrthe helped me cook it , while Jenny and Damien laid the table ...very homey...a relaxed cosy evening, just family and a nice visitor...well..and the film crew and director of course!...it was so funny!, Our house is so tiny ,not really a film studio at all actually... but anyway....it was very cool... We enjoyed the experience and I think it will be a lovely piece of innovative tv when it's finished...we'll let you know when this new program gets aired on Dutch television..(which will take a bloody long time, so don't expect anything soon)...erm..where was I?.]..as always I digress...anyway, this team of lovely people will also come to the next theatre to film OMNIA on stage, so I'm looking forward to that...today life is interesting, today is a now officially declared as having been a good day!...We hope you're having one too...Greenthingz!...Stenny...photo by Elmira

I don't know much about Art but I know what I like!...well actually that's not true I know quite a bit about Art and I have been painting and drawing a lot of my more confusing brainwaves my whole life and then at a certain point music came along so I just made Artwork for CD's and Tshirts and stuff....but I love fine-art paintings!...the great pre-raphaelite painters like Waterhouse, the amazing Graphic art painters, the old Dutch masters...wonderfull stuff, excruciatingly difficult techniques, lovely lines...ah! can just get lost in a good painting or drawing... Fortune has favoured me with an enormously talented family aswell who can create visual images that express the same emotions that we feel when playing our music. And it's really cool to get upclose to someone who can create visual art which I could never do myself because it's simply on a whole other level of mastership.You probably all know our "famous" uncle Alan Lee (co-creator together with Brian Froud of the genre-defining book "Fairies" back in the seventies and more recently, Oscar winner for conceptual art in the mega movie-trilogy "Lord of the Rings"). But did you ever meet our cousins Renso (Renso Tamse) and Marjolein? (Marjolein Kruijt) Yesterday we went to a gallery where they currently both have an exhibition and ....wow...Their work is AWESOME! We stood staring, completely flabbergasted by the inhumanly perfect, though vibrantly alive paintings. I can so respect the amount of time, skill and effort that go into making such ambitiously nature-perfect pictures of the living planet (unlike our uncle Alan Lee, Renso and Marjolein paint nature itself in a pure form without adding any fantasy elements. Telling a more subtle story with subject, composition and light).

I especially enjoyed all the Wolf paintings, many of which were painted by Renso while he was listening to our CD "WolfLove"! Check out their websites-links if you wanna see what I'm talking about. On this pic we're standing in front of "Save the Tiger" by Renso...anyway... I'm sitting on the sofa now while Jenny is busy vacuum cleaning the living room around me...I'm starting to feel guilty about not doing some house-work aswell now...I mean , I'm just arsing around writing to you, when I could be helping my lovely wife ...I'll cook a nice meal for her when I'm done...we want the house to look good because we're having visitors over tomorrow..tv-people who are going to film and interview us and stuff...hmmm?...I wonder...will it be "Artistic"?...hahaha! otherwise we'll certainly make it so!...Have a creative whatever you're having right now and don't forget to look at and appreciate something lovely made by a monkey every now and then...Art is the only good thing to come out of this weird hollow space-monkey species of ours....but only by listening and looking at it do we fulfill it's ultimate function...Greenz..Steve Sic....photo by Turdus Merula

Great gig last night! We really needed our stage-fix again to keep us from becoming uncomfortably insane, (sadly we are musicmaking junkies who really have a physical NEED to perform) and last night was a beauty indeed! The tonal equivalent of the finest golden brown vegetable serenity coursing through the mindscape of the late great St.William S. Burroughs in whichever heaven he reclines in right now...(if you don't know who he is look him up on the Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy...erm...I mean ofcourse wikipedia) The crowd was amazing (thanx again friends!), the gifts were overwhelming! (you people are crazy! but thanx soooo much for all your time, energy and love!...we need it!)
Life has more ups and downs for us than a nymphomaniacs knickers lately... But movement means Life (just like stasis means death)...so....we surf on big emotional waves this year....so the valleys of our soul can grow really dark and deep at times, but the summits are fecking awesome! Life goes on in the band of pretty pagan people (yep it seems OMNIA has become better looking this year...which can't be bad...I'm certainly not complaining!...) the energy just keeps on rising when we play!
Speaking of pretty thingz we were hanging around with Phiral in Amsterdam to shop for Masks and extra chique clothes on the Waterlooplein for the upcoming FAIRYBALL. In the end we scored practically everything we needed in the Marketstand of Astrid (click here for Astrid's Gothic Clothes), which is funny because Jenny used to hang out in this cute little shop full of finest Gothic fascination to eat her sandwiches and chill out when she'd have a lunch break from studying at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music (she was 18/19 years old at the time then)...and Astrid is still there selling her freaky fashion!...check her out when ever you're on waterlooplein and say "Hi" from Jenny! Ah the stage! (2011-02-23 16:34:33)

This is what a soundcheck looks like from stage...here you see Philip checking out his Bass guitar while Wim and Sascha tweak the sound a little in the venue and in our in-ear monitors (the little speakers in our heads that we use to listen to ourselves and each other on stage). You can just see Richard the lichtguy fiddeling around with the light settings...You really have no idea how much time and energy it costs to actually get a band playing on a theatre-stage on the day of a gig...But it's always worth it in the end isn't it?...Today we are back in the saddle running the office (trying to arrange more gigs where you can see us when you feel the urge to hear me talking a load of bollocks over a giant helping of live-OMNIA with extra nature love as dessert...yummy!) Been talking to a nice lady from SBS6 about filming the tv-item for them, and it looks like fun actually...we're finally getting the new posters and flyers printed to send out in the world today...Arranging stuff for the extra special FAIRYBALL gig in Bibelot (we're gonna go and make our freaky costumes and masks tomorrow) I suppose that you already have an idea for your own mask to wear then? Or will you simply wear some big glasses or put on extra heavy make-up...(which is also allowed) Because the main thing is to have fun together in Dordrecht !(I just saw that it still isn't sold out yet, so how many of you are going to be there actually, are you all nervous about having to wear a mask?)....but anyway, Jenny and me are "in the office" now...As you know we don't really like the office/computer bit very much, but it's a neccessary evil for self sufficiant artists like us if we wanna survive on our own in the big nasty world without subsidies and big label-sponsoring (it's a rat race out there ya know)...we really loved having a break of three whole days to celebrate Jenny's birthday last weekend (ok... she became 31 actually!) and I took her to a really groovy sauna to relax and sweat out the stress... I wish sometimes that life could be more simple with more times to relax and just live though...you know?...A life that could consist of only Music, Art and Nature (like the world that lives inside our heads) and simpler things...but alas..we are all lost space-monkeys trying to make sense of a world in which we don't really belong...sometimes it makes sense and sometimes you get these "huh? what the fuck?!" moments in which reality warps around and blows a raspberry in your face...like...hey...I just heard the strangest thing...apparently we are a Sect!...yep! ...a scary one it seems....according to some very hung-up parents we brainwash children and make them turn their backs on their parents' wishes and society...ok...really?...gosh...sounds like the punk days all over again to me!... And here's me thinking we only speak the truth as we see it...no more no less...If anybody feels the need to change anything in their lives because of that, I would prefer to think it's free choice of the individual in question to see the sense of respecting nature and their own creative wishes and changing the way they live accordingly...but ah well, I'm just mad and I really DON"T SPEAK HUMAN very well at all...have a nice day, before some human louses it up for you...GreenThingz!...Steve (nobody's hero, nobody's leader, just a Bard) Sic...photo by Talisien...ps: the "tag the audience photo's" are on facebook...
