OMNIA / SCUM - “The Bald Fenian Men” (sic)
This song was recorded and filmed during a live show held at the underground punk venue “the RatCave” in the isle of Dogs in London in 1983.
In 1983 OMNIA was a hard core punk band called “SCUM”.
After playing their hit-single “FUCK!!! ” to an extatic crowd ,the band OMINA /SCUM performed this unique version of an Irish rebel “pro-IRA” song (which was banned from public radio at the time) to great success.
It was such a hit that SCUM even inspired the young Shane McGowan (Pogues) to start playing Irish traditionals in a punk style. (the bold fenian men was actually the very first folk song performed by the Pogues)
Jenny is wearing her famous punk outfit which was copied by Siouxie (of Siouxie and the banshees) who wore it on stage when she was the stage slut of the “Sexpistols”.
Joe Hennon uses the accursed “Pick of Destiny” on his guitar (later made famous by “Tenacious D” in their movie “the pick of destiny”).
there are many interesting features about this concert-video that can keep historians busy for a long time.
At the end of the concert is an interview by a reporter “Sven the mohawk” of “Vomit Magazine” (a little known swedish punk magazine/ underground programme.
